To effectively enroll your child at a BPS School, you should follow these steps:
1. Get familiar with BPS and your child’s options
As a Boston resident, your child is eligible to go to Boston Public Schools.
Every family in Boston has a unique list of schools to choose from, based on where they live. This is called, your “Choice List”.
Your choice list will include every school within 1 mile of your home, as well as nearby high-quality schools. It will also include schools offering special academic programs, and early childhood options.
You can find your family´s Choice list by visiting DiscoverBPS.org and entering your residence address.
Because each school is different, when choosing the right school for your child we encourage you to think about all aspects such as school hours, transportation to school, school size, student activities, and before and after school programming.
2. Complete the Pre-registration
Once you have reviewed your Choice List, and before visiting a Welcome Center, we suggest you get a head start on the registration process by pre-registering online. You can do so by visiting sis.mybps.org to pre-register.
Pre-registration is not mandatory. However, it will save you time during the in-person visit to the Welcome Center.
Please note that registration is not complete until you speak to a Registration Specialist or visit the Welcome Center.
3. Visit a Welcome Center
You will need to visit a BPS Welcome Center to complete your registration.
Walk-ins are welcome in all centers, or you can schedule your visit to save time at bostonpublicschools.org/appointment.
