Countdown to Kindergarten Play to Learn Groups
are free parent-child playgroups for children ages 1-3 and their caregivers. They are led by an early childhood educator and include time for free play, circle time, snack, and gross motor/sensory play.  Playgroups meet for 2 hours each week at:
 Kenny Elementary School
Holmes Elementary School
 Lee Elementary/Academy
  Tobin Community Center/Tobin School in Roxbury
 ELC West

hopeful time for families and  children. Your
child’s education will play an important role in
shaping his or her future. Kindergarten will
provide the strong start our child deserves. 
The year before kindergarten is the perfect
time to get ready.

Countdown to Kindergarten helps families
understand the value of kindergarten,
choose the right school for their children,
learn and grow together, and ease
the transition into kindergarten from home
or preschool.

This site provides several tools to help get
you started. A section called Getting Ready
offers information about school visits,
school choice and registration.  You’ll find
facts about Boston Public Schools
kindergarten and suggested activities to help
prepare you and your child. 

You will also find many useful resources on topics like after-school programs, bi-lingual education, and special education.
